Hayley has it backwards. Regular Silicone is the older style implant with liquid, that is not approved for cosmetic use. You can only choose that option if you had a mastectomy. The cohesive silicone gel implant is just that, you can cut the implant in half and the silicone will not leak. The have been used in Europe for years, but were just FDA approved in the US in 2006. They were only tested in clinical trials on women 22 and over, so those are the only women that doctors can use them with. Any doctor that does not follow these guidelines is sketchy and doesn’t mind risking his license. It’s an FDA standard, it has nothing to do with parental permission.

If saline implants aren’t for you—if you don’t care for the liquid filling, don’t want to risk the ripples or don’t have enough breast tissue to cover them, then you want gummy bears. They are liquid gel silicone.
