Question by : If a person has liposuction is it possible for the doctor to leave fat on some areas?
I’m wondering if there are many benefits to getting lyposuction, rather than loosing weight w/exercise and diet. For instance, if a woman wanted more curves in the certain places, would it be possible to leave that fat, there? If so, how much? Would this have any negative side effects? I gained about 40 pounds, a few years ago as a result of a medication, and am considering the procedure. Thank you very much for the answers!

Yes, this is called body sculpting and you may have to find a more experienced surgeon for it. Body sculpting is basically just selective liposuction so there are no increased risks with it. But if you go for fat transfers (ie many women get fat from their stomach transferred to their butts or their breasts), there is some increased risk because of cell death. However, keep in mind if you gain or lose weight, your body will change. It will not stay that way forever. You need to contact several surgeons to get an opinion. You may need to lose or gain weight depending on your surgeon’s technique.
