Has anyone ever had a rhinoplasty. I live in NY and am considering getting one done. What are the complications with the procedure? Can it be dangerous?

I have had rhinoplasty and I am 16 years old. It can cost anywhere from $7,000 to $13,000. Make sure you do your research! Rhinoplasty can be a great thing, it sure did change my life all for the better. I can smile with confidence, everyday. However, there ARE some risks. 1 in 10 patients can have MINOR spontaneous imperfections resulting from the rhinoplasty. Some are left unchanged, while some people decide to have a minor rhinoplasty reconstructive sugery to fix the problem. There are far more risks associated with the anathesia [spelling?], if you ask me. I had mine done with Local and a sedation. Which basically means I was awake, just numbed and sedated. General anathesia is nessasary when having lengthy surgery done, so if you’re getting alot done to your nose you will have to be put under General. General Anathesia is alot more risky than Local, yet only 1 in 10,000 people have complications from the anathesia. Complications range from a damaged heartbeat…to death. Be sure to talk to your surgeon about this. I hope I helped you. I definatly support you on this, just PLEASE do your research. Go to the best surgeon you know of in your state, and if you cant afford the best surgeon…then dont do it! -Ren Brown

i had it done in the u.k. on the the nhs due to problems breathing.
the procedure is nothing to worry about and was definately a good thing for me.
you look like a bit of monster for a couple of days after as you have to wear a mask type thing over your nose and brow.
there is no more danger involved than recieving any general anesthetic.
youll be fine

We do it free on the NHS, in the UK, but only on medical grounds, not cosmetic. You can be an NHS tourist like everyone else that uses the UK. Depending on the surgeon, it takes around an hour and a half, but I can’t give you prices, sorry.
Side effects include being bandaged for a few days, and some nice black eyes, but it’s not dangerous, I book patients for them every week, as ever though, consult the surgeon, as everyone is different.

Don’t know, but you will probably end up paying through the nose for it!
(“All surgery carries some uncertainty and risk
When rhinoplasty is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor. Nevertheless, there is always a possibility of complications, including infection, nosebleed, or a reaction to the anesthesia…
After surgery, small burst blood vessels may appear as tiny red spots on the skin’s surface; these are usually minor but may be permanent. As for scarring, when rhinoplasty is performed from inside the nose, there is no visible scarring at all; when an “open” technique is used, or when the procedure calls for the narrowing of flared nostrils, the small scars on the base of the nose are usually not visible. Other scars near the bridge of the nose can come from sculpture of the nasal bones from an external approach…
Occasionally a second procedure may be required-for example, to correct a minor deformity. Such cases are unpredictable and happen even to patients of the most skilled surgeons. The corrective surgery is usually minor.” )

Being from NYC it is considerable higher in NY. However, doctors prices are not the same. I just heard of a new technique that can be done on the nose without surgery. The complications is that you could turn out to look like Micheal Jackson (just kidding). Infections can occur with any invasive procedure. However, just check around with different doctors for prices.

I had it done years ago, would like to have it done again now, as techniques are so much better. Mine was for health reasons, not cosmetic. I encounteres no major problems, some bruising of course. The biggest problem was that for the first few weeks you find yourself looking in windows and mirrors and thinking..’who is that!’

I know someone who did this and she was fine. I never had that done but I have had work to my jaw and chin. I suggest looking around several different doctors and if possible talking to someone who has had it done and who their doctor was. Of course with all operations there is always some kind of risk.

I just had mine done in August. Of coarse there are risks involved with any surgery. On a scale of 1 to 10 the worst pain was a 3. Promise! It changed my life and would do it all over again! It cost me around $8000 total. Remember you get what you pay for. Go for it!

for HALF the cost, a wise alternative is a medical tourism package which will include the rhinoplasty procedure (very well done in the Philippines with same medical facilities and doctor expertise), airfare, a tropical vacation, a relaxing spa, and still have some cash left for shopping!
dude, check this out -

depends on the size of the rhino I think. Is it dangerous? No, I think they stun the rhino with a tranquiliser dart before the procedure, so it shouldn’t be dangerous.
