How Do I Plan A Cancer Walk For My School?

Next year, I want to plan to have a cancer walk that students can participate in, but I have never been in charge of planning a cancer walk before. What advice do you have? Who can I get in contact with to do this? Should other people be allowed into the cancer walk? Should we put together teams to walk that day? Any suggestions are appreciated and will be taken seriously.

And what do you hope to accomplish with this cancer walk. Are you of the opinion that people are unaware that cancer exists. Do you hope to enlighten them to the ravages of cancer that you apparently just learned about. You people with your cancer awareness seminars and cancer walks put me in mind of the newly saved Christians who get right in your face and in an effort to spread his newly acquired faith asks, “Have you heard the good news?”
Well, of course we have. And, unless those you hope to enlighten are complete fools they have likewise heard of cancer. If they are of any age at all they likely have had a go-round with it themselves or through a friend or loved one.
You people and your useless do-gooder nonsense just make me tired. Do something useful and clean up the litter along a roadway some where.

Have the walk going on all day long (maybe even all day and night) at the track, or any large hard surface. Have participants get pledges from teachers, parents, businesses, neighbors, etc to walk for a certain amount of time….or a flat donation. So, say the participant’s neighbor, Joe, agrees to pay $0.50 for every minute the participant walks. If the participant walks for a total of 3 hours then Joe will pay $90. Or Joe can just donate $50 up front.
Like the answer above me already said…you should check with the American Cancer Society to check out their suggestions.

Call the Susan G. Koman foundation, they do a breast cancer walk all over the country every year. They should be able to direct you in what you will need to do to start a cancer walk. They have individuals walk, team, and companies. I have been walking with them for 13 years now and I love it. A cause well worth it. As a cancer survivor I just want to say thank you for wanting to do this–God Bless You
dink2529 what kind of person are you???? Sounds like you need to come out and see what goes on at one of the cancer walks. It’s people like you that make me sick, I really hope you never have to know what it’s like to have cancer. Your type are the ones that talk bad about God and those that want to do good but then when it happens to you-your the first one to run to God and ask for healing. Or you would be the first one to yell loud and long that we need awareness. You better pray you never get cancer.
