Try and avoid being in enclosed places with lots of people, probably for a week before your operation. Good luck

You can't. It's a virus. And it has no cure.
I say, drink lots of orange juice and take Vitamin C every day to maintain a strong immune system.
If you do come down with a cold, reschedule your rhinoplasty. Your health is more important than a nose job, dear.

Hi Hayley not..... The Hayley Turner?
There is no way to avoid it if that cold virus decides to hone in on you. However you could take vitamin C&D supplements as a possible preventative measure.

You avoid a cold for this the same way you avoid it any other time. The principal vectors of the cold germ is surface (touching) and air contact (breathing it in). Stay away from crowded and confined situations, and avoid contacting surfaces in public. Frequent hand washing is also a good idea. No guarantees here, but good luck.
Oh, and forget vitamins and all that. They may help you recover but they won't shut down the germ or make you immune.
A better idea is to find some flexibility with scheduling the procedure so you cancall for it while you know you are well.
